Samsung Galaxy Watch LTE
Design & Build
There are two different sizes of the Galaxy Watch: 42mm and 46mm. The one we looked at was the 46mm version, which is pretty big for a normal wrist. If your hands aren’t as big as a drunk man’s goals, you should probably get the 42mm watch, which is more likely to fit your wrist. The aluminum case of the watch is round and looks like it should. The silver case has a space-grayish rotating bezel that is a big part of what it’s like to wear the watch. This rotating bezel can be used to move through the user interface. I think this is the easiest way to use a smartwatch. The bezel can also be used to answer or end calls, skip songs, turn up or down the volume, or do any other task with only two possible answers. When you turn the bezel, you can also feel a satisfying mechanical response. The watch doesn’t have a crown; instead, it’s tied together with two buttons on the right side. The button on top is the “back” button, and the button on the bottom is the “home” button. When clicked twice, the “home” button can be set to start certain actions or apps. This side is also where the mic is. The speaker is on the left side of the watch. The Galaxy Watch LTE 46mm is compatible with 22mm straps with spring bars. The Galaxy Watch looks a lot like a regular watch. The band that comes with the watch is made of silicon and has lines going through it. If that’s not your style, you can find a lot of other options online. Overall, the Galaxy Watch LTE is a nice-looking watch that is well-built and well-designed.

Battery
Batteries and smartwatches have never really gotten along that well. But it is nice to have the Samsung Galaxy Watch LTE 46mm. The watch has a 472mAh battery that has never run out in less than two days. Even though the watch is connected to my phone, can take calls over LTE, has an always-on screen, and can track my heart rate, it still has a long battery life. When things are really bad, the smartwatch’s power-saving mode also does a great job. On this one day when I forgot to charge the watch, the 17 percent of power left was enough to get me through the day. By the end of the day, there was only 4 percent left (with limited functionality that is). The Galaxy Watch LTE is one of the best smartwatches when it comes to how long the battery lasts.
Display
The Samsung Galaxy Watch LTE has a 1.3-inch screen with no bezels that can be seen. So you get exactly what you see. The colors on the AMOLED panel are very bright, and you can read it pretty well even in bright sunlight. It was also great in terms of how it could be seen. Users can choose to keep the screen on all the time, or they can turn it on by rotating the bezel, tapping the screen, or lifting their wrist. Lift-to-view worked pretty well, and there wasn’t much delay when the display came on.
Tizen OS

Tizen OS is an operating system made by Samsung that is used in a variety of products. Samsung switched from Wear OS to Tizen OS for its wearables a while ago, after realizing early on that Wear OS had some problems. Using Tizen OS after using a Wear OS smartwatch feels like a breath of fresh air. The user interface is very polished and easy to use, and, as was already said, it makes great use of the rotating bezel as a way to enter information.
On the home screen, swipe right or turn the bezel to the left to get to notifications. Notifications can be expanded or closed, and you can also respond to them with pre-set replies, emojis, a phone keyboard, or your voice. When you swipe left or turn the bezel to the right, widgets like the weather, fitness metrics, music player, and shortcuts to apps appear. The watch or the Galaxy Wearable watch can be used to change this.
Swiping down from the home screen brings up the quick settings panel, where you can change settings like WiFi, Bluetooth, Battery Saving, Flight Mode, etc. If you’re on a call or listening to music, this menu also has the notification to show that. When you press the home screen for a long time, you can change the dial. You can get more watch faces from the Samsung Galaxy store if you don’t like what you see. There are also a lot of apps you can put on your watch that you can find in the Samsung Galaxy Store. You can put games on the watch like Snake or Whacky Mole to pass the time. But the most important app for me was Spotify, which lets me store music to listen to when I’m not online. This is a big deal because neither Wear OS nor the Watch OS from Apple can do this. So, if you have Bluetooth earphones, you can just use your watch to play your favorite songs while you’re walking or working out.
Fitness Tracking
When it comes to fitness tracking, the Galaxy Watch LTE is a great partner. Even though it won’t work as well as a Garmin or a Suunto, it’s still a good choice for most people. The watch can help you deal with stress and breathe better. It can also track your heart rate and show you 21 indoor exercises and 39 workouts. It also lets you know if you’ve been sitting for too long. When I had been sitting for a long time, it once told me to do 6 repetitions of a back-stretching activity. This can be very helpful on a long flight when it’s easy to feel squished. The best thing about fitness tracking is that it will automatically start tracking an exercise even if you don’t start it yourself. It can also automatically stop and start tracking. When you reach a goal during a workout, you will hear and feel an alert. With 5ATM certification, the watch can also be used to keep track of swims. Did I say the watch can also keep track of how you sleep? Yes, you can do it if you’re comfortable sleeping with a big watch on your wrist, which I am not. All of the watch’s health data can be seen on Samsung’s Health app, which is well-designed and easy to scan. The watch doesn’t directly connect to Google Fit on Android devices or Apple Health on iOS devices. But if you have an Android phone, you can use the Health Sync app to get data from Samsung Health and Google Fit to work together.
LTE Support
As the name suggests, an LTE eSIM can be used with the Galaxy Watch. Setting up an eSIM for the Galaxy Watch is ridiculously easy and doesn’t take any time at all. To set up your Galaxy Watch, all you have to do is choose the SIM card you want to use (if your phone has two SIM cards) and follow the on-screen instructions. Once set up, you can use the same number to make and receive calls on your Galaxy Watch. So you can be sure that you won’t miss any calls while you’re out running.
Storage
Some users should be fine with the 4GB of storage that comes with the Galaxy Watch LTE. But if you have a large Spotify playlist like I do, 4GB won’t be enough space for you. After removing my Spotify playlist, there isn’t much space left on the watch for me to install third-party apps or store photos. It would have been great to have 8GB of storage like the Fossil Gen 5 has.
Charging Time
Samsung says that the QI Wireless charging standard is also met by the Samsung Galaxy Watch LTE, which can be charged wirelessly. But I couldn’t charge the watch with any other wireless charger I had besides the one that came with the watch. Also, the watch can’t be charged quickly, so it takes almost 3 hours to go from nothing to full power. This isn’t a problem if you charge your watch overnight, which I did, but it is a pain if you forget to charge it during the night.
Verdict

But the pros easily outweigh the cons, which makes the Galaxy Watch LTE easy to recommend. If you want a similar experience with better fitness tracking, you should definitely think about getting the cheaper Galaxy Watch Active 2. But if you already have an iPhone, I don’t see a big reason why you should get the Galaxy Watch LTE instead of the Apple Watch (Series 4 or Series 5).
