Zepp Z Smartwatch

The Amazfit Zepp Z has a body made of TC4 titanium alloy and a 1.39-inch HD large AMOLED screen, which is one of the smart wearable’s best features. It has a big 340 mAh battery that lasts a long time, even though the watch has a lot of features. The Zepp Z can measure the amount of oxygen in the blood (SpO2), which can also be done through the Zepp App. Its BioTrackerTM 2.0 PPG optical sensor tracks heart rate and alerts you if your heart rate goes up in a way that isn’t normal.

It has 90 different modes, including 12 built-in sports modes for common activities. The smartwatch uses both GPS and GLONASS to give accurate information about where it is. It also has a feature called “find my phone.” The Amazfit smartwatch has Alexa built-in, so the user can talk to it, play music, set an alarm, and get a weather forecast, traffic updates, sports updates, and other real-time information by speaking to it.

 Design and display

There’s no getting around the fact that the Zepp Z looks like a classy smartwatch. It has a round display that is very bright and has the hours and minutes written on a ring, which is a throwback to the old analog watches.

The watch is made from a single piece of polished, gradient-finished titanium alloy. It is slim and not too big, so it doesn’t stand out much when worn. The watch we got had two leather bands attached to it, which made it look and feel better.

The Zepp Z has a crown on the right side of the watch that can be turned. The crown has a shiny top and a ridged design to make it easy to turn. You can use the crown to light up both the watch face and the list of apps. The watch has two buttons in addition to the crown. The bottom one is a customizable button that gives you quick access to activities like running, cycling, swimming, and climbing. The top one, on the other hand, doesn’t do anything and is only there for looks, which seems strange since it could have just been another customizable button. The Zepp Z’s display was very bright, which bothered my wife when I tried to wear it while sleeping because it lit up the whole room when it accidentally went off while I was sleeping. The screen is easy to see even when the sun is out. The colors on the screen are clear and could compete with the best smartwatches on the market.

Keeping track of performance and fitness

Huami doesn’t say which chipset is in the Zepp Z, but the smartwatch has some of the best hardware that the company makes. But the device works very well, even if it sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t when it comes to tracking fitness.

One of the best things about the Zepp Z is that it has built-in support for both GPS and GLONASS. This is great for people who want to go running but don’t want to carry their heavy phones in their jogger pockets. Voice commands work just as well with the Zepp Z, but you need to use your phone to do them. This will let you do things like set alarms, open apps, change settings, and more without using your hands.

Even though the Zepp Z doesn’t have Alexa voice commands when it first comes out, the company has promised that it will in the future. This is good news for people who want to buy the watch. In addition to these, there are other features, such as alerts for apps, calls, and texts. You can also use the find my phone feature, control your music, choose from dozens of free watch faces, check the weather, etc. One thing I didn’t like about the Zepp Z was that it didn’t have any internal storage or support for third-party apps. This means that you can’t listen to music on the go without your smartphone.

The Zepp Z also doesn’t have any way to reply to texts because it doesn’t have a keyboard or dictation software, even though it does have a microphone. Notifications on the watch don’t seem to be linked to the phone. When you dismiss a notification on the watch, it stays on the phone. The Zepp Z’s fitness tracking seems spotty as well, and I’ll start with one of the most basic features, which is tracking steps. I wore the Zepp Z to my weekly football game, and even though the game was an hour-long, the watch only showed that I had taken 982 steps in that hour, which seems unlikely. The sleep tracking on the watch seemed almost as random, as it showed that I hadn’t reached REM sleep much, even though I know for sure that I did during the eight hours I slept. Even though some of the measurements and fitness tracking seem off, the Zepp Z has a lot of them. But it looks like Amazfit does need to get better at how accurate these are.

 Battery life and charging

We’ve already said that the Zepp Z has a 340mAh battery, which makes the battery life its most notable feature. Using the magnetic charging pad with a USB-A connector that comes in the box, it takes about an hour and 15 minutes to fully charge the watch. This can also be charged with other wireless charging pads for smartphones, and some smartphones can even be charged backward with this.

Even with GPS and sleep tracking turned on, I was able to use the device for almost a whole week. But I have to say that during this time, I only wore it to bed two nights. But I have to say that even with steps, stress, sleep, heart rate, and other features turned on, this is pretty cool.

 Buy it if…

You want a smartwatch whose battery lasts a long time.

There’s no doubt that the Zepp Z’s best feature is its long battery life. Most people can use it for a whole week without having to charge it, so they only have to do so on Sundays.

You want a smartwatch that looks cool.

You have to agree that most smartwatches don’t look as good as analog watches, but the Zepp Z is a step in the right direction to even things out.

You don’t want to have to worry about bringing your phone on runs.

When you work out outside, the Zepp Z’s built-in GPS takes care of all your fitness tracking needs, so you don’t have to carry around bulky mobile devices.

Don’t buy it if…

You want to buy a cheap smartwatch.

The Zepp Z is an expensive device that costs more than the sum of all its features and benefits. This means that it only makes sense for people who are loyal to the Zepp brand.

You want to run with your music.

The Zepp Z doesn’t have any internal storage, so you can’t put your favorite running songs on it.

You want accurate fitness tracking and a good experience with the app that goes with it.

The Zepp Z isn’t as good as other fitness trackers when it comes to being accurate and easy to use.
